Two weeks on

Well in the two weeks that I have had off over Easter I have been through some real new experiences. Jo and Josh have been doing well, though to start Jos did lose some weight but as he got into the habit of being fed has done really well and has pt it back on again, so he's now still around the 8lb mark. We've ventured out of the house and visited people and Grandparents (Joshua's Grandparents we are on about). Jo has even gone out for walks with him in a pram.

I and Jo have had some good nights and one or two bad nights with Josh keeping us awake or waking us up during the night. I must admit we are also sleeping lighter, I guess because in the back of your mind you just want to know that the little fella is fine. He does not really cry out loaud, he has more of a moan and talks to you... really funny, you have to be there to hear it.

This Monday coming, 16th April 2007, I am having to go back to work so it will be a new time for me and a new time for Jo as she's as to look after him on her own during the day. No doubt a Grandmother or two will pop over at some points to make sure they are both fine.

Pictures of my son!

First sorry for the delay in posts, but with a new born and dealing with all that comes with it, it's taken me some time to get the time to do this. What with visits from both sets fo Grandparents and Uncle's & Aunt's and all the others that know us that want to come and visit, my time has been taken up a little.

I thought I would start with some pictures from when Joshua had just been born. So to the left is a nice little one of him while we were still at the Hospital.

Bump arrives :)

Finally on the 1st April 2007 @ 20:40 Jo and I had a little baby boy. Joshua, Joshua Bell we have decided to call him. Weighing in at 8lb he's in fine health and mummy is doing fine. What an emotional time this has been for us all. I have taken some pictures and will try to get these posted up here as soon as possible.

Still no joy and I need food!

About midday (1st April) I needed some food and was allowed to pop down to the cafeteria to get a bite to eat then then decided to ring my parents to tell them what was going on. I think I rang them about 13:30 while they were in the middle of Sunday roast. As I spoke to dad I could hear that brother of mine in the background laughing. Dad put me on to him and we had a chat about things and how it was going. When I told him about them ringing me at that time in the morning he laughed his head off - git!
So we are still waiting.

The phone call - Arghhhh!

At 01:00 on 1st April, the phone rang. Now this made me jump as I was fast asleep, which then turned to "Oh my God!" as I realised what this might mean - Arghhhhh!!! With my heart pounding answered the phone to find it was the hospital calling me to come back up. So I got dressed and got into the car, as after only a few hours sleep I would be safer in this than on the bike, and headed off to the hospital.
Jo was in a fair bit of pain and so they decided to move her from the ward to the birthing area (where the women type give birth). Here she was given drugs to help and we just have to wait......

Home for the evening

32st March: Well I popped off home for the evening. The staff at the hospital said I might as well go home and they would call me when any news. So I popped of around Mum and Dad's to see them and hopefully get a free dinner.
When I got there, I found that mother had gone with Jo's mum to see Jo (see previous post). So I sat with dad, had a bite to eat and chatted for a while. Before heading back to my house for evening. As I didn't feel too tired I stayed up watching TV till 23:30 and then went to bed.

Still not coming out

At 21:00 on 31st March the hospital staff decide that more stuff is needed to help the contractions get under way. So more stuff is given to Jo and we wait. By 21:30 contractions have kicked in and I think I should send the others (Grandparents to be and stuff) a SMS message letting them know what is going on.

Mothers visit

About 17:00 on 31st March the Mothers pop up to visit Jo and see how things are going. Not bad idea, keeps them all happy.

Ring Mum and Dad

At 14:30 on 31st March, I decided that I should ring Mum and Dad and let them know what is going on. Mother answers and seems quite excited. My brother is in the background, I can hear the git laughing at me!
I tell them what has happened and what is going on and pass on the information about what Ward and what visting times are, that way they can keep Jo company while I am at the cinema with Matt.

What are they doing?

At 13:20, or there abouts (I was not really looking at my flipping watch), they put some gel on Jo to induce the baby. Not sure I wanted to watch that really!!
We've been told that Jo now has to stay in until bump appears, better hurry up as I wanna go and see the 300 at the cinema with Matt.
I'm off to the car now to put some more money in the meter. This is gonna be expensive, and they won't feed me! They should put a McDonalds in the hospital. Might go and get my motorbike, parking is free for that. But I need to make sure the top box is on too, carry the baby back in of course ;)

31st March 2007

Well the bump the Jo has been carrying around for the last 9 months has not wanted to leave the warmth of it's mother's womb. SO, the hospital said that we will have to go up and it induced (sounds painful!!).
Now for those wondering why I am calling it, 'IT'. Is because we do not yet know the sex of the bump, "better be a boy as we have so many boys toys for it to play with it", say's Matt (brother).
Today (Saturday) the hospital rang to say that we should pop up to the hospital at 11:45am. "Oh God!", so car packed up and I was about to leave and I remembered that I need to take Jo too.
